Saint-Domingue was the richest colony in the West Indies and produced goods for France. When the French transition rent out in 1979, Saint-Domingue had four distinct set of involvement convocations. The whites were split up into two groups: the planters and the Petit Blancs. The planters were rich whites who were plantation and slave owners. This group of people were varietyary, independence-minded and rebellious of France laws. The Petit Blancs who were less powerful than the planters were more than loyal to France and less independence-minded. The free persons of color consisted of mulattoes and the other one-half faint slaves who bought their freedom or been given it. They despised the slaves and imitated the conduct of the whites as a way to separate themselves from the status of the slaves. The fatal slaves were divided into domestic slaves and sphere hands. The domestic workers were treated break up than the knowledge domain hands and worked as cooks, pers onal servants etc. The field hands worked from sunrise to sunset and were poorly treated. The maroons were a man-sized group of run-away slaves who fled to the mountains and made a living there. The French Revolution of 1789 in France sparked the Haitian Revolution of 1791. In the Mackandal rebellion of 1759 the slave Mackandal organized a general plot to poison the masters, their water supplies ! and animals. A movement for a general concept of human rights, universal citizenship and connection in government had developed. This movement broke into full revolution in 1789 and ordinary citizens finally had the rights of citizenship. The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen presently raise the question of slavery.
